On this day, we commemorate and remember a man that transcended his time. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a dream to our society that continues on today. Dr. King envisioned a world when all people would be treated as their creator intended.
While Dr. King’s legacy was built upon the civil rights of all people, his theological foundation was squarely constructed upon the Nazarene’s ethic of loving God and loving others. The two cannot be separated, thus we love God through loving others and love others through loving God.
Therefore with this ethic fused within the ethos of our existence, we can practice the ideal: all equal before God are all equal among themselves.

The death toll from this week’s massive earthquake continues to mount with some experts predicting the number of deaths in the tens-of-thousands, maybe even reaching as high as one-hundred thousand. All across the Internet we are hearing of relatives searching desperately for their lost family members and friends. Information continues to gather giving witness to the massive devastation to a country already suffering from an economic and healthcare earthquake. As my prayers were gathered and lifted this morning, my thoughts could not drift away from my brothers and sisters in Haiti. If we don’t help them, who will?

As many of you know, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti yesterday. Haiti is one of the most impoverished countries in the world. With a population of just under 10-million residents, the possibility for a horrific outcome looms large. According to the United Nation, 80% of residents live in absolute poverty. Therefore, already battling against extreme poverty, terrible health issues, and instability within the country, this earthquake produces a devastating insult on top of an already injured society. NorthHaven member and Cooperating Baptist Fellowship of Oklahoma Director, T Thomas, traveled to Haiti last year to distribute mosquito nets through his organization His Nets . When asked for a response to this current tragedy, Thomas a career missionary who has served in some of the most remote parts of the world replied, “When I traveled to Haiti, I was not prepared for the level of poverty I encountered outside the city. The kind of poverty seen in Haiti is really unimaginable. This situation will have long-term effects because of the state that already exists, thus any help that can be provided will go a long way towards assisting the people.”

Found this sign yesterday on the strip. On the sign right above the door it reads, "Courteous Conduct Required." Love it!!!
I think I might put it at the front of the church. What do you think? - Mitch is mobile blogging.

Stuck my toe in the Atlantic today....bbbrrrrrr!!!
Standing, watching, and listening to the mighty power of God's oceanic creation reminds me of the delicate nature of my existence. At different times, God's awesome power rolls upon the shores of life in gentle ripples or roaring breakers. - Mitch is mobile blogging.
