Last evening, America watched as the New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl.  Echoes of “Who Dat?” bounced from the French Quarter all the way to Norman, Oklahoma.  “Who Dat?” has become the rallying cry for Saints fans, as their team and city have undergone tremendous heartache over the years.  Now, however, there is no question as to the identity of both the Saints or their beloved city.  They have overcome great odds, empowering them for great possibilities ahead.

As I listened to the players and coaches talk last night, every one of them mentioned what the Super Bowl victory meant for the city at large.  Since Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans has certainly suffered, sometimes with people even wondering if they will ever make it back.  Now, I am not one to put too much emphasis upon sporting victories.  However, last night I could not help but be hopeful for New Orleans.  The Saints victory somehow seemed to transcend the moment, energizing and empowering their fellow citizens.  The question of “Who Dat?” is no more; the Saints are marching forward with hope in their hearts.  Congrats Saints; and congrats New Orleans!!!
